On April 22-23, 2025, TC3 hosted an inspiring workshop focusing on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in cannabis and cannabinoid research, at the Chestnut Convention Centre, University of Toronto.

Co-led by senior TC3 fellows, Dr. Justin Matheson and Dr. Catharine Mielnik and supported by TC3 fellow, Christina Pereira, the two-day event brought together experts, researchers, and trainees to discuss the challenges and opportunities in fostering EDI in research.

The workshop featured a dynamic program that explored how diverse perspectives can drive innovation and create more inclusive practices in cannabis and cannabinoid research. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from an exceptional lineup of speakers and panelists who shared their cutting-edge research and personal insights.

Panel discussions featured voices from both trainees and senior scientists, offering a unique opportunity to explore the systemic barriers faced by individuals from diverse backgrounds in academic research. These discussions provided concrete strategies to improve diversity, accessibility, and inclusivity in the field.

The event was a resounding success, providing attendees with valuable insights and actionable strategies to foster EDI in cannabis and cannabinoid research.
